University Preceptorships provide one semester of paid leave and an annual fund to support research expenses. The preceptorship will support Dr. Adel’s ongoing research and scholarly work in addressing pressing challenges in the built environment through improving labor dynamics (through human–robot collaboration), facilitating low-carbon design and construction, and enabling novel architectural expressions. The Samuel Davies Presidential Preceptorship was established in 1986 through gifts to A Campaign for Princeton in honor of Samuel Davies, who served as President of the University from 1759 to 1761.

This work investigates diffusion policy learning for robust, high-precision, contact-rich robotic assembly under fabrication uncertainty using construction-scale industrial robotic systems. Trained via teleoperated demonstrations to collect robot pose and force/torque data, the learned sensory–motor policies enable the assembly of tight-fitting timber joints with sub-millimeter clearance, maintaining reasonable robustness to positional perturbations substantially larger than the joint tolerances. The results highlight the potential of learning-based robotic control to compensate for fabrication-induced misalignments and advance reliable contact-rich robotic assembly in construction.

The Canadian Wood Council organizes the Wood Design & Building Awards, which "recognizes and celebrates the outstanding work of architectural professionals around the world who achieve excellence in wood design and construction." The award ceremony took place during the Woodrise Conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on September 23, 2025. Our director, Arash Adel, attended this ceremony and accepted the award.

The ARCC is a global organization with the goal of strengthening the research culture and facilitating institutions in the field of architecture and associated design fields. The ARCC New Researcher Award was created to "acknowledge and reward emerging figures in architectural and environmental design research that demonstrates innovation in thinking, dedication to scholarship, contributions to the academy, and leadership within architectural and environmental design research."

The Canadian Wood Council organizes the Wood Design & Building Awards, which “recognizes and celebrates the outstanding work of architectural professionals around the world who achieve excellence in wood design and construction." There were 181 nominations from 25 countries submitted this year, and RFS is one of twenty-four winning projects selected. Susan Fitzgerald, design principal at FBM and one of the jurors for the award, remarked that RFS "combines the artful and experimentation," putting together a structure that is "quite delightful and beautiful."

The Global Future Design Awards is an annual awards program organized by Architecture Press Release. This award recognizes outstanding ideas that redefine design in architecture through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organization.
